What is the Live and Let Live Philosophy?
The 3L Philosophy is that everyone should be legally protected to live freely and use this freedom for the greatest benefit to all.
The Live and Let Live (3L) Philosophy consists of two principles
The Legal Principle to not Aggress is essential for freedom.
- This law is based on the right not to be aggressed against, which is itself based on the “self-evident that we own ourselves.”
- Simply put, all voluntary interactions between consenting competent adults should be legal, while all involuntary interactions should be outlawed.
Peace requires more than just freedom.
- The 3L Movement, therefore, adopts the voluntary Moral Principle’s aspirational values to be an exemplary, or excellent human.
Why does freedom lead to peace?
Most parents already intuitively instill the values of the 3L Philosophy - ‘keep your hands to yourself’, ‘tell the truth’, ‘do your best’, ‘be kind’, and so on.
The 3L Philosophy points out that what is obviously right at the individual level should be applied equally to all groups, corporations, and governments.
The purpose of the 3L Global Peace Movement is to inspire a critical mass of people to adopt the 3L Philosophy to achieve freedom and peace on earth.
- Freedom is achieved by outlawing aggressing worldwide.
- Peace on Earth is achieved by voluntary adoption of the Aspirational Values.
Can freedom and morality coexist?
Not only can freedom and morality coexist, but they actually require one another to exist.
Morality is only meaningful when someone chooses to be moral. Without the freedom to choose one’s own moral standards, people act out of fear of being aggressed against rather than through genuine humanity.
Forcing certain moral standards upon people denies their freedom to live in any peaceful way they choose and, as such, is contrary to Live and Let Live.
