Overview
- Most of us expect that children in kindergarten should not steal from, hit, or lie to each other. This is why we teach them to keep their hands to themselves and not take the another’s toy without permission.
- Reasonable people agree with these rules! They are not controversial with anyone.
- The Legal-Principle is simply an extension of the rules that have made sense to all of us since childhood: no initiating nonconsensual force, threats, fraud, or coercion. The Legal Principle also adds some obvious extensions of these playground rules that are needed in adult life: don’t breach a valid contract, breach a fiduciary duty, engage in unreasonable conduct causing harm, or deny due process.
- The 3L Philosophy applies the kindergarten rules equally to all individuals.
