⚖️ Justice

What is Justice?

Justice refers to the restoration of someone’s position when that person’s rights have been violated.

While law contains the rules for justice, justice itself is the (ought to be) objective of law.

In the Live and Let Live Movement, justice is reached when everyone is able to live their life in any peaceful way they choose. This means the universal application of the Legal Principle.

The purpose of law is not to create a perfect society or enforce anyone’s moral preferences. It should only be used to prevent aggression or, when aggression occurs, to remedy the situation. That is justice.

If the law punishes victimless crimes, there is no justice.

Justice is not the same as punishment. Punishment may be a society’s way to aim for justice in certain circumstances, but the two are distinct concepts.
